**All-wheel drive (AWD)** sends power to all four wheels automatically, engaging only when it detects slipping. It's always on and requires no driver input-ideal for everyday weather and slippery surfaces. **Four-wheel drive (4WD)** is traditional truck/SUV tech: you shift into 4WD when you need extra traction (mud, deep snow, off-road). It's more rugged but uses more fuel and isn't needed for normal winter driving.

### When to choose each
AWD suits most people: it improves traction in rain and light snow without the fuel penalty or complexity of 4WD. Choose 4WD if you regularly drive in severe snow, tow heavy loads off-road, or work in challenging terrain. Many RAM trucks offer both; Jeep specializes in 4WD capability.

### Cost and fuel
AWD adds cost and reduces fuel economy slightly. 4WD costs more but delivers maximum off-road ability.

Castle CDJR of Naperville carries AWD and 4WD vehicles across our lineup. Our sales team can explain which system matches your climate and driving needs. Call (630) 864-6683 or stop by to test-drive options.
